1914 - Honus Wagner becomes the 2nd player to record 3,000 hits.
1945 - Brooklyn Dodgers manager Leo Durocher is arrested after a game against the Phillies when a fan claims Durocher punched him.
1946 - 66,545 fans attend the Yankees game to help them break the one million attendance mark the earliest that season.
1946 - New York Giants manager Mel Ott becomes the first manager to be ejected from both games of a doubleheader.
1963 - The first Sunday night baseball game is played; San Francisco Giants lose to the Houston Colts 45's 3-0.
1966 - The Minnesota Twins hit 5 home runs in the 7th inning against the A's.
1989 - Barry Switzer resigns as Oklahoma's head football coach.
1989 - Michael Chang becomes the youngest male to reach the finals of the French Open tennis tournament at age 17.
